Deadline week, semester break and baby showers!

What a crazy busy couple of weeks!
Taking up much of my time recently has been the dreaded deadline week. Deadline week at university is an absolute nightmare! Two presentations and a report have definitely taken their toll on me. Exhausted isn’t the word. Don’t get me wrong, I love being at uni… But when all the deadlines fall around the same time it can become slightly stressful! Just as one deadline is reached, you don’t even have five minutes to relax before you’re back working on the next one. Although, I must admit, there is something very satisfying about handing everything in, when only a few weeks ago there didn’t seem to be any light at the end of the (essay and presentation filled) tunnel.

We’re on a semester break for a few weeks now, so some much need R&R will be taking place, (well besides the dissertation that is still looming – but let’s not think about that right now!). To kick start this short break off I have decided to pop back home for a long weekend. Luckily my home town isn’t located too far from my university city, so all it takes is a simple train journey and being picked up by my loving mother from the station and I’m home. It’s just not a journey I make very often though…  I suppose the student budget (where £20 on a train ticket is the equivalent to a week’s meals/a much needed night out) and the fact that the majority of my closest friends have also moved away for uni, means it’s just not something I think to do much. However this weekend I’ve decided to come back to spend some time with my family, who I haven’t seen since Christmas, and to attend my friends baby shower, which will be the first baby shower I've been too so it makes it all VERY exciting!

Shopping for the baby shower has been lovely! I’m one of those people that  just loves to go out and find someone the perfect gift! The few bits I’ve put together are both adorable and not to costly either (which keeps my student bank account happy). After a few hours of looking around, and visiting every baby related shop I could think of, I decided on; an adorable comfort blanket, in beige, with the cutest little hedgehog cuddly toy attached to the top, some tiny mittens to stop the baby from scratching, some Johnsons baby wipes, and a tiny baby grow with the slogan “Mini Man” with a cartoon moustache. (As my friend knows she’s going to have a little boy).
I honestly cannot wait to give them to her!

Besides the baby shower I think this weekend will just consist of relaxing, eating the lovely food I can’t usually afford, hopefully some long awaited catch ups and then a train journey back up to university. This sounds pretty good to me!

I’m definitely looking forward to seeing if there’s anything else exciting in store for the rest of semester break!

What a crazy and busy couple of weeks!
Christmas was a lovely time spent with family and close friends.  Which of course, included far too much food, reminiscing back to various members of the families childhoods, (including mine with the usual stories that are always saved for family occasions), and the giving and receiving of some lovely gifts. I was lucky enough this year to have almost a second Christmas spent down in Kent which, despite the many train delays that turned the usual 3 and half hour trip into a 7 and hour one, was lovely.

Christmas was of course followed by New Year’s Eve which was welcomed with some very special people and a few drinks to make to make the night all the merrier. The first day of 2014 was then spent avoiding the horrible rain, snuggled up on the sofa watching old films with plenty of snacks and Coca-Cola (which is vital for the morning after a drink or two).

However Christmas and New Year flew by far too quickly, as always and all of a sudden I was packing up and on my way back to uni where I find myself amongst the piles of essays, presentations and reports waiting to be completed. But it’s not all work and is lovely to be back at uni to spend time with the friends that are here again. Especially as in the last few months we can spend together, (well fingers crossed we graduate) as students. So despite the piles of work, and the sufficient lack of money being a student brings, we’ll be making the most of these last few months and ensuring we make heaps of memories we can look back on when working full time comes around.

So… since the end of December was so much fun I'm excited to see what the rest of January will bring!

So it begins..

So...

I've been day dreaming about setting up a blog for a few months now. After a long day of travelling home for Christmas, pretending my suitcases will unpack themselves and at the random time of 1:30 in the morning, I finally decided to give it a go.

After a few hours of wondering what I could actually write about, as I don't really have any particular skills or talents, (besides procrastination - which I am the master of) I finally came to the conclusion that I would simply write about any experiences and thoughts that I find interesting and fun.

I hope you enjoy my (sometimes very) random chatter and thoughts.
